Dr Nikita Duncan

Clinical Psychologist

About me

Hi! My name is Nikita and I am a HCPC registered psychologist, who specialises in children and young people. I first started out in psychology in 2010, eek – 14 years ago! And have worked with people across all ages, settings and different presentations.

I have always loved working with young people and their families, as I find it so rewarding, empowering young people to overcome their challenges. Young people today face so many difficult and emotive life stressors, and this can be overwhelming and anxiety-provoking to navigate. For some, they may experience trauma or obstacles that feel too big to face alone. I hope that in our sessions, you will allow me to share, guide and support you in overcoming this together

My approach

I have been trained in multiple different approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Analytic Therapy. This allows me to draw on many different models and approaches to ensure you get a tailored and personalised care package, adapting to meet your needs as they arise. I really take pride in being able to be flexible and adaptive within our sessions, whilst using evidence-based approaches, to guide us through therapy together.

The therapeutic relationship is key within therapy – whether you feel safe and comfortable in our sessions to explore your thoughts and feelings. During our sessions, I hope to build your trust and foster a meaningful connection. This can take time, and so this may be something we explore in the beginning stages, getting to know each other.

I know for some people, started talking therapy can be really daunting and unknown. During our sessions together, I hope to involve you as much as possible in your journey of self-discovery, working together on meeting the goals you have selected.
