Dr Fiona Broderick
Clinical Psychologist, CBT therapist (BABCP accredited)
Hello and welcome! My name is Fiona, and I am a passionate therapist with 20 years of experience of working with people in distress, from those reporting anxiety, depression, and relational conflict, to those struggling with their body image, trauma and loss. I currently work in the NHS three days a week in a specialist service for individuals who have encountered traumatic experiences (usually in their family home). In this role, I enjoy working one to one with people, but also offer consultation and teaching. In my earlier years, as a CBT therapist, I worked with people struggling with obsessions and compulsions, panic, worry, and phobias. I also have an interest in parenting, understanding how our own experience of being cared for as a child can influence how we then respond to our children.
From very early on in my career I became amazed by how people can find strength , even in the face of the difficult life experiences we can encounter in being human! Engaging in therapy is both brave and can be life changing. My initial aim is to build a warm and safe relationship with you, in which we will explore your current concerns and understand these in relation to your earlier life experiences. We will then work to uncover your natural resilience and wisdom, and to develop helpful coping skills.

Interests
Being part of a community and being connected to others is something I deeply value. Given this, I spend a lot of time with friends and love nothing more than talking over a cup of tea, especially if this is done in nature. Singing, music, and watching films also brings me a sense of joy. I feel most content when being present with those I love and care about.
Whilst I believe experience and qualifications are helpful, the therapeutic relationship is of paramount importance. Feeling seen, heard, and understood is key to effective therapy. I therefore offer a free twenty minute conversation, partly for us to determine if I have the appropriate skills for your current difficulty, but more for you to decide whether you feel we are a good ‘fit’.
