Daniel Bains
Integrative Therapist
I’m an experienced integrative therapist, registered with the BACP.
Why do I do this work?
I wish to support people in getting to the root of their struggle. To move toward real- long lasting change in their lives. To support people in finding self-acceptance, self-compassion and feeling a sense of safety in the world.
How do I do this?
I'm an integrative therapist. Trained to use elements of Gestalt, CBT and Psychodynamic Therapy. I have a keen interest in Trauma work and undertake Somatic Trauma training currently.
This allows me to work, integrating both mind and body. Supporting you to gain a greater awareness of both. And supporting you toward finding peace in the present moment.
What is my philosophy?
I believe therapy is about empowering you toward making the changes you wish in your life. It's about creating an environment that facilitates your growth and awareness. It's about building a collaborative, authentic relationship that supports you.
I hold the view that therapy is done With you, not To you.
My role is to provide both support and challenge. To help you experiment with new ways of being. (Particularly useful when you're feeling stuck).
I spend most my time reading about Eastern Philosophy, Psychology and Spirituality. I have a belief that therapy encompassing Mind, Body and Spirit helps us rekindle our spark. To rediscover our connectedness and a sense of acceptance for what is- in the present moment.
How does it work?
By increasing our awareness of ourselves, we then become conscious of what we want to change.
It could be how we approach others in relationships. How we approach trying new things. How we cope with our emotions. It could be understanding how our story has shaped who we are today and gaining insight into how that plays out in the present moment. It could be learning about our nervous system, how we perceive danger (as a response to previous trauma) and how to find safety/ regulation again.
Therapy is a safe space to discover and experiment with new ways of being. New ways of supporting yourself. And new ways of relating to others.
In essence we're identifying and adapting old patterns of thoughts and behaviours that keep you feeling stuck.
To discover new thoughts and behaviours- that help you move toward your goals.
Reach out when you are ready and I will be privileged to walk with you on this part of your journe
